CBT Counselling Services

People come to counselling because they want to feel better, and they want something to change. Often they are unhappy with their lives and have tried everything to make their problems go away. They feel stuck and are suffering in some way and any relief they may have found is short-lived.

While going through change and experiencing pain is an inevitable part of life, how much we suffer along the way can be minimized. By becoming aware of the present moment rather than grieving the past or fearing the future, accepting (acknowledging and not resigning to) what is already here rather than resisting or avoiding it, and choosing to focus on our values in the face of adversity, we can reduce our suffering and engage with life challenges in a more encouraging and productive manner.

This service provides expert and effective cognitive behavioural treatment for a broad range of physical and mental health difficulties in a timely and cost effective manner. When viewed broadly, this can include specific interventions such as Cognitive Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and the general term ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’.

How Will This Service Assist You?

This class of therapies has a very strong evidence base for significant functional improvement, not only in mental health conditions such as mood disorders and anxiety disorders, but in a broad range of physical health conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic headache, chronic low back pain, other chronic pain syndromes, chronic fatigue syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Our clinical staff has extensive training and lengthy expertise in implementing these techniques both in the context of interdisciplinary treatment and as stand-alone counselling.

Since 2010, we have successfully resolved over 80% of the cases where we provided counselling services. We are happy to provide you with our outcome data.

Access to this service is simple and quick. From the moment that you call or submit the referral form, we can typically offer the first appointment within 5 business days.

If necessary, and agreed to, the client could be seen by one of our consulting Psychologists for a psychological assessment and/or treatment.

This service is available throughout Canada by Skype or by phone or in one of our offices in Ottawa, Toronto (4 locations), London, and Burlington.
